about a boy.

the new challenge over at scrap Africa has been posted and i loved this challenge. it involves boys(big or small) and you have to use a quote on your project. the quote on my layout was the most amazing thing i have found recently...it's kinda how i feel (felt) about my dad when he was still around. and it's how i see my little nephew feel about his dad - he absolutely heroes him - does that even make sense? well it does to me. so hop on over and play along to stand a chance of winning some amazing goodies - and to see what the rest of the team came up with.
the products used are mostly from The Wholesaler like...
the beautiful Wellington patterned paper, Wellington bear cut out, basic grey patterned paper, mister heuy ink, crate patterned paper, basic grey balloon sticker,  crate chipboard car element and prima wooden star button. to frame my smaller photo i used the Celebr8 chipboard frame and coloured it using mister heuy ink and then with a layer of anita's 3D glaze.
the leftover ink on my craft sheet from colouring the chipboard frame was used for stamping. i simply dipped a bottle cap into the ink and stamped circles onto my layout - i still love this effect.
thanks for stopping by and please pop into the scrap Africa blog and leave us some love and play along. have a wonderful rest of the weekend...
i will be back soon to report on our Card Convention this past weekend - wow is all i can say.
30 ladies - their patience, excitement and creativity made it all worth while!
and the above quote on my layout....
I was holding hands with a figure of mythical proportions
Hercules had nothing on my dad
he was a man that knew all the answers
and fixed every hurt
i miss you dad - all 27 years you were not here!

wellington.

i am in love with this little bear called Wellington! and we had a fabulous time getting to know each other by making a couple of projects using his amazing range of patterned papers and 3D collage images. the thing about bears is that they are just so darn cute! and this range is especially cute because it isn't theme specific or colour specific but can be insorporated into so many colour schemes. so to see some more projects head on over to
hope you are having a warm weekend...i am frozen!

cards.

we have a little more than a week to go before our first card convention. the idea behind the convention is to get the city folk out of their rut and into the country for a little R&R. nothing huge - just a couple of girls getting together to make some cards, maybe learning something new, having a couple of laughs and being treated to a beautiful day. i have a million things to do and another million ideas in my head of which half of them are not even possible. besides that i am getting ready for a huge battle with VW about my car or rather the lack of my car. then i have a pile of creative stuff i want to get cracking on, a ton of furniture to paint and a ton of things....well you get the idea. oh and then there's working on a Christmas in July project or four - oh wait it's actually more than that! what i do know is that the more you do the more you can do...so soldier on.
but i wanted to share these cards with you just in case you did not visit here since we are in card making mode at the moment...
i love the mixture of vintage and funky elements with a splash of red

beautiful butterflies are always a winner on anything ...

buttons is a must on everything...

and cupcakes to keep us sane and to celebrate...
i hope you have a wonderful week ahead. and remember to be creative because the possibilities are endless. and visit here on Friday because i am in love with a bear....and beautiful elegant bear.

scrap africa sketch 7 layout.

it's time for a new sketch over at Scrap Africa. we have some amazing inspiration lined up for you as well as beautiful{gasp} samples by our guest designers.I loved working with this sketch - simple and just right for my style. So please hop on over as you can win some lovely chipboard goodies by Celebr8 this month.

For my background I used the lovely new Mister Hueys' Colour Mists in 3 different colours to create a vibrant splattered effect. The mists are now available in South Africa and is distributed by
for my title i used one of the Celebr8 chipboard elements. i coloured it using four different products to create a beautiful yet subtle effect. to add colour to my layout i used glitzers by Glitz design, buttons, Basic Grey flags and stickers. I love how the entire colour scheme came together so well even when using a myriad of different manufacturers.
so head on over to Scrap Africa and see some of the inspirational work by the design team.
and don't forget you still have time to play along in the 'flag' challenges and you can win some amazing prizes too. Have a wonderful day!

colour me random.

colour is such an important part of everyday life - it affects us in different ways. so i have come to realize more and more that i love colour - more specific multicoloured looks. i find the colours in papers in photos in embellishments and i throw it all together and i love it. at times it may be a bit daring...ok a lot daring but most people have come to embrace my sense of adventure and love it too.

my little balloon was cut from packaging so i wouldn't have to cut up my patterned paper...yet. good old clever designers that would add such wonderful images to the back of the packages. i really appreciate the little efforts that go into the details.
and some beautiful purple handmade paper from Japan punched into a circle. funny how one changes with age. dont get me wrong - i still think i am 20. but i have come to realize that it's ok to use all those beautiful handmade papers i have been hoarding for 10 years plus now. somehow it's ok for them to find their beautiful fibers onto my works of art now - like the timing is right. and i find more and more people embrace them as well now.
my little flags at the top was embossed using a Basic Grey/ Hero Arts cling mount stamp and embossed in white on white. i then used different coloured distress ink pads to colour them and added a smaller patterned paper flag on top for effect. splashes of hidden colour peeking from behind.
Basic Grey stamp by The Wholesaler - supplier and importer of Basic Grey and other stunning products. visit the wholesaler blog for more stunning ideas using their beautiful products.
