Secret Scrapbook Event | Couture Creations & The Wholesaler

It's been a while - well 3 weeks since I blogged. With good reason. I have been off teaching at the Secret Scrapbook Event sponsored by Couture Creations & The Wholesaler and presented by Scrapbook Studio. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my life and passion with the delegates - sharing my God given talents with them. I am blessed by what I do and hyave done for past 20 years! What an amazing event it was, taking us from Cape Town to Pretoria, to Johannesburg, Bloemfontein and then down to JBay for the final leg.

We laughed, I cried, we ate like piggies, we scrapped, we coloured, we cut and we made memories.
We had a great time but I am happy to be home, catching up on mails and work and getting creative again. So for now I leave you with this amazing image taken in Cape Town and then the one below on the last leg of our journey in JBay.
Thank you for hanging around while I was away! I will be back with loads of exciting news happening around here! Until later ....

Guest Designer | iheart studio for Wilna Furstenberg.

I absolutely loved working with these printed images. I wanted to create a light hearted layout using a photo of my niece – wild and free kind of like these Spring flowers. The colours are so soft and fragile and complimented the black and white photograph perfectly. I wanted the flowers in colour to speak loudly and a colour photo would have competed too much with these beautiful images. I think it is a perfect combination and tells such an amazing story – the perfect combination of wild and free with a really thoughtful message.
What a privilege to work with such amazing images – to honour the art of such an amazing person/artist and beautiful soul like Wilna!

Print your selected images onto high resolution paper. I used the Spring Florals, May Florals 1 and the Spring Frames 2 for my layout.
Print the Spring Frame to fit over a 6×6” photograph. Cut out the centre of the frame and cut around the outside edge.
Make sure that the printed frame fits over the photo without covering up too much. Adhere the frame to the photo using Tombow adhesive.
Ink the edges of the cut out flowers to hide any cutting marks.
Use watercolour paint to add some colour to vintage book paper. Combine two different shades of blue for interest to add the colour wash.
assemble your layout – add a strip of patterned paper to the top edge of your background. Adhere the painted book paper to the top edge vertically centred. Adhere the framed photo and add additional cut out Spring flowers using foam tape for added dimension.
Cut out butterflies from the May florals and adhere to the right side of the frame.
use yellow acrylic paint to add dimensional stamen details to the flowers. Use a burnishing tool to pick up a small amount of yellow paint and stamp the paint into the centre of the flowers. Leave to dry. Add printed wording from the Spring Phrases at the top and bottom edges of the photo. Finish off your layout with machine and hand sewing, sequins, and paint splats.
Add additional journaling stamping and finishing touches as desired to personalise your layout. I hope this has inspired you to use these beautiful images to create your own works of He(ART).

 Blessings! Jowilna
