cards with scraps.

i finally got around to finish off some cards. i have about 100 odd backgrounds done with scraps of patterned papers and plain card stock - all i need to do is add a stamped image, some embellishments or wording and whalaa...but even that seems to be a mission these days. but the other night it wasn't that cold and i could actually see what i was doing - Jayson added some lights just above my work table because i have been moaning about not being able to see...so no more excuses. the lights themselves were a mission...climbing a 6 meter high thatch roof on a ladder is not his favourite thing to do. but it is done!

the first card showcases one of my favourite PSX (personal stamp exchange) stamps! they really had a wonderful quality and the designs were / are awesome.

this card was done by letting large drops of bleach trickle over Bazzill Basics card stock to create the background effect.

the last card was finished off with a happy birthday sentiment by MSE (my sentiments exactly) a grungeboard flower and some bling.

This week's sketch over at scrapbook challenges is another stunner. Pamela really knows how to deliver. i opted for the two page version for my layout this week. i also did away with much of the white space and used white card stock for my background instead. the rest pretty much happened. white card stock really is a wonderful blank canvas to work on - pretty much anything can and will happen. for a chance to win some stunning prizes head on over to scrapbook challenges.

i scrapped some photos of a 'world cup' dinner we had in may just before the world cup started officially. apart from dinner we got up to quite a bit of mischief and laughed until we cried! literally! the only way i was going to get to like my vuvuzela was to bling it out (or pimp it). i am sure elizna will love it :-)

although i did not attend any matches myself - we still got into the spirit of such a great once in a lifetime event. and yes the excitement was quite contagious - and any one who denies it is lying. let me know what you think!

the purple dinosaur.

welcome back to our office CEO christine! she has roamed the globe and is back with us for some much needed scrapping time! and a special welcome back from Barney the office mascot - also otherwise known as ... (sensored)! the photo of barney was taken as he hangs on for dear life on my scrapping bag! looking forward to a quieter Monday!
Tuesday is another hectic day as we finish off the last of the photos of my new book. at least i have prepared most of the steps and got all the messy stuff behind me - this helps us save time in the studio! then comes the hard work of proof reading, finalizing the cover and layout and tweeking to get the look i have envisioned for this baby! i still love publishing with every part of my being - in spite of the hard work - very few people actually get! each time i buy a magazine i take a little moment to reflect on just what it takes to put such a publication together from concept to freshly printed proofs! hope you have a fabulous week! watch out for a fun 2010 world cup layout in tomorrows addition of scrapbook challenges.

the challenge this week over at scrap and stamp Saturday is using black and white or sepia photos on a layout. i am loving my little bunting's at the moment and have done a few layouts using them from baby the adults. this version is of my little nephew Jonathan. he just turned 3 years old and i can hardly believe how time has flown since the photos on this layout. check out what the other design team members have come up with over at

don't forget to add your layout and you could win some fabulous prizes.

the title lettering was placed on the little flags with bling and sewing around the edges.

the plain white butterfly was stamped with pale blue ink and a flourish stamp.

the little ducky image was punched from the packaging of a sticker sheet and dressed up with a circle of diamantes around it.

scrapaholics rocks.

this is the lovely Zoe from Scrapaholics in Port Elizabeth! her shop totally rocks and her hospitality and welcome is so genuine - refreshing in this industry. what really amazed me was the class attendance - scrappers, shop owners and teachers filled the seats in someone else's shop and we laughed and scrapped and ate and had a truly awesome time. and this is the way it should be all around....thank you to Zoe and everyone who joined in the fun of creating and making this a truly memorable moment in my life. you girls totally rock!

hello blog.

well hello blog...mmmm - it seems like forever and yet it's only been a week since i have spent time on the web. it just goes to show it is possible afterall!
we had great fun with classes down in Port Elizabeth and Jeffreys Bay - just not enough time to get everything done plus spend a few hours on the beach and getting photos. the rainy weather and clouds were just not great for photos.

i met up with my good old friend and fellow scrapper and student colleen who came to spend some scrapping time with us. we miss her stacks up in Johannesburg but who can blame her for moving down to such a lovely part of our country!

saturday morning started off really well...and then we had a bit of a power out...luckily cariena had a generator on site and we were back up and running in less than 5 minutes.

elizna was a great sport getting her hands dirty with loads of inking, spritzing, misting and making a general mess. you are a real hoot and such a good sport! and oh so talented!!

scrapbook studio is such a well stocked shop with loads of tim holtz goodies, inks, stamps, paper and tools!! a shoppers heaven for scrappers and card makers!
thanks to everyone who joined us for classes in JBay and PE! you girls rock! thanks also to cariena and her stunning staff for making us all feel welcome!

scrap and stamp saturday.

this week the challenge over at Scrap and Stamp Saturday is using red...
well i had no problems there - i simply dove into my scraps under my table and found enough red pieces to do at least a couple of layouts and cards. i love red! yes i confess!
i chose some of my favourite pieces of scraps and tried to use them as is...maybe just trimming off a skew edge or two. my stamped something is the "&" in the title and the swirl at the bottom.

my plain white lettering in my title got a bit of bling with a layer of star dust stickles glitter glue.

stamped details in black Versafine were also dressed up in stickles.

a couple of punched circles in red off-cuts, some red diamante, red pearls and red rub-ons for good measure!

supplies: Cardstock by Fabscraps. Patterned paper by Jenni Bpwlin, Webster's Pages, Jillybean Soup & Graphic 45. Rub-ons by 7Gypsies. Glitter Swirl by Making Memories. Stamps by AMM & Cavallini. Stickles by Ranger Industries. Other Diamante, pearls, lettering & ink.

heading out.

this is me at age 1 - needless to say i love the ocean and specifically Jeffreys Bay where the photo was taken! and later on we are heading out there for a couple of days of some R&R and some work, lots of friends and just a change of scenery and environment! and yes i get this ecstatic about the ocean each and every time....i will be blogging from the road and hopefully take lots of beautiful pics along the way! so until later....
