sketch 250.

this week's sketch over at scrapbook challenges is such a versatile and funky sketch. i turned my original sketch around and changes some of the elements a bit...just because i can. i wanted to use some of the new graphic 45 circus paper...and the theme of my life fitted right in - life is mostly a circus act if you think about it. sometimes funny, other times serious! the rest of the papers were all scraps piled in their usual spot...on the floor next to my desk - close by!
just loved the little circus themed postage stamps..
a frog cut from webster's pages patterned paper and all glittered up with stickles...
sewing and pearls ...ahhh bliss
thanks for stopping by i appreciate your visit and comments! head on over to scrapbook challenges to see what the rest of the design team members have come up with. hope you have a wonderful and creative week. we have a couple of holidays coming up over our Easter celebrations and i have some cleaning to do...
supplies used
blue spot patterned paper - kaisercraft
pink dot patterned paper - making memories
dictionary paper - echo park
stripes, brown hounds tooth - webster's pages
circus themed paper - graphic 45
pearls - kaisercraft
stickles - ranger industries

i love tags.

Saturdays challenge over at scrap and stamp Saturday was using tags. well i had no problem, cause i simply love them and always have! i used a bunch of manilla tags and dressed them up in patterned paper, distress ink, perfect pearl mists and stamping with a couple of photos too. i love how this layout turned out! i also added some cut-out pieces on the left using Webster's pages e;elements and combine them with more tags from girl's paperie, ribbon and diamante.
for my stamping i used my favourite 7gypsies stamp set. i stamped directly onto my patterned paper in grey - my new favourite colour.
the distress ink colour on the tag is mustard seed combined with vintage photo and then misted with sunflower gold perfect pearls mists! absolutely love that stuff and have been playing with it to death even before we learned all about it from tim this past weekend!
some plain old masking tape dressed up with silver acrylic paint dabber and finished off with some sewing.
some stickles on my cut out pieces just for fun. can't live without bling and stickles!
hope you feel inspired to use some tags! head on over to scrap and stamp Saturday and join in the challenge - there are some awesome goodies up for grabs! we would love to s a see what you girls do with your tags! so consider yourself tagged for this challenge...have a super week!

street photography hits the beach.

a bit of fun taking photos of my niece and nephew down in the strand...so wish we could have found some interesting street graffiti...but it seems cape town really is a clean spot - relief

sketch 249.

after an awesome weekend of creativity with tim holtz and margie romney life just feels good again! being in the beautiful city of cape town helped of course and the company of beautiful friends who are so generous and creative! but being Monday it's time for a new sketch over at scrapbook challenges. you can head on over here to see the single and double page sketch and some awesome samples by the design team members. i love doing double pages. i love the open space and the size. i love filling it with creative elements and techniques and beautiful pictures. i even love the white space. the uncluttered mess of stuff. and that's what this week's layout is. i used some 'snaps' of the dogs and my other half a couple of years ago. sometimes those everyday moments are just perfect to capture the emotion and feel and add to a layout! so here it is....
some beautiful stickers from echo park all glittered up with stickles.
sewing by machine and bling around photos just for fun, and some beautiful texture.
and some vintage goodness from jenni bowlin.
here's wishing you a beautiful and creative week filled with love and paper goodness. thanks for popping in and to all those loyal followers and friends - love ya lots!

sketch 248.

this week's sketch over at scrapbook challenges is by your truly! we all pitched in to help Pamela with some sketches for a couple of challenges! what a great opportunity to become even more involved with this fabulous group. head over to scrapbook challenges to see the sketch as well as the fabulous layouts by the other DT girls. just a reminder that you can play along with all the weekly challenges and become a winner of some awesome goodies!
and here are some close-ups. my title and journaling covers my flight instructor in this photo.
i added some sewing around the edges of my circles for texture. then as i was looking for something else i came across the lonely strip of kaisercraft pearls from way back when and added them right across the circles...and loved it!
i cut out some of the flowers from a piece of Webster's pages. i am a great fan of cut-out flowers and elements...BUT when others do it! i on the other hand hate the intricate cutting of things. however i did attempt it here and love the look. they were popped using foam dots for dimension and the edges inked to hide the 'white' cutting edges.
...i am still convinced that no matter what you scrap with Webster's pages it works! and in my opinion a girl can never have too much patterned papers...especially new ones. thanks for popping in - hope you all have a wonderful week.

colour.

Mondays class layout just happens to work perfectly for the new palette over at the color room. i did however have the additional colours of brown and red added but i love the outcome.

and here's a sneak peak at some embossing detail on my layout using a combination of 3 embossing powders on a basic grey chipboard element.
..until tomorrow when i will share the layout! as well as the new sketch going up over at scrapbook challenges. hope you have a wonderful week.
