dress up your stickers.

join me at Scrapbook Den

felt flowers.

the challenge is up over at
Scrap and Stamp Saturday.
this week we had to use either felt flowers or any other flowers.
i added some paper flowers to my layout but also made little felt flower accents by just cutting felt into circles and sewing around the edges. they may not be real flowers but you get the idea..

the centres of the flowers are made using Claudene's sticky canvas by Ranger and colouring it using a gold acrylic paint dabber. cut the canvas into a small circle freehand and then place it onto a piece of felt and cut around the edges. sew around the edge of the felt using embroidery thread and then assemble your flower. real quick and easy but with loads of texture.

the butterflies are cut from Prima paper and finished off with some bling.

my stamped sentiment is from Crafty Secrets. some red sewing finishes off my layout.
thanks for looking, now head on over to scrap and stamp to see some other great ideas for using flowers. remember you can also win some great prizes by entering your layout into the challenge...but remember to use at least one stamped image on it.

supplies: patterned paper Prima. Flowers Making Memories, Enmarc & Prima. Card stock Core'dinations. Bingo Cards Tattered Angels. Other diamantes, buttons, thread, felt, canvas and paint dabbers.

good cause.

my friend Olga Cardoso - a double lung transplant survivor is organizing a fundraiser for the Organ Donor Foundation in the form of a scrapbooking day in August.
it promises to be loads of fun with stunning products and completing an entire 12x12 album from start to finish! all funds will go directly into the ODF account and they are the only ones who will benefit financially...but we will benefit through the day by spending it with good friends doing what we love - scrapping of course. if you need more information about this worthy cause please contact us.

published.

can't wait to get my hands on this baby...i believe i have some more cards published in it!
i love the take ten magazine. it really falls perfectly into my creative motto -
don't sweat the small stuff, make it quick and easy!
why...because our lives are so short and so hectic and before you know it -
you forgot to stop and smell the roses.
so if you are in need of some carding inspiration why not try and get your hands on a copy of the Take Ten magazine - it really is worth it!

scraplift.

over at scrapbook challenges there are loads of inspiration as well as weekly challenges to participate in. so if you are stuck and in need of some help, head 0n over and find something to scrap lift like i did this weekend...
the third week of may saw a gorgeous layout as page of the week and i decided to scrap lift it...
it really is a great way to use all those lost things on your desk, or that odd photo that really needs to get into an album!

some hand sewn details in grey...the hottest and trendiest colour for this season

and a fun decorative scalloped edge border adorned with pink diamante

supplies: Card stock Fabscraps & Bazzill Basics. Patterned paper Jillybean soup & Prima.

sketch 201.

this week Pamela has given us yet another great sketch to work with. i loved the big title and the circles. I have had quite the love-affair with circles lately! for those of you that are really into double page layouts why not give this sketch a go....The fabulous Scrapbook Challenges Design Team has come up with some great ideas so why not head on over and check out their designs on Pamela's blog - and then head on over to the scrapbook challenges website and become a member. join in all the fun challenges and win some awesome prizes too.

this is my take on the sketch. i chose long narrow photos for my layout instead of the circles.
the photo of the paw prints is raised and some detail below it to draw the attention to it.

thank for looking! hope you have a creative week ahead.

supplies: Card stock Bazzill Basics. Patterned paper Prima. Sticker 7Gypsies. Title Cricut. Other Pearls, diamante and paper leaves.

birthday challenge.

today at scrap and stamp Saturday the challenge was to create a layout for a birthday.
i used a picture of my niece going through the birthday cake book a couple of years ago as she decided which cake grandma was going to make for her. i love that photo of her.
the cupcake mouse image is a digital stamp from Meljens that i coloured with my smooch ink and then added a layer of star dust glitter glue.
working with only a single photo i added a whole bunch of different pieces of patterned papers and created a quilt like effect. to create the rub-on corner on my photo i used a couple of rub-ons and cut them apart - a nice filler for a really blank spot on my photo.
i love the colours and think my niece will like the layout too. what do you think - let me know?

a-maizing-day.

this afternoon we got back from the maize capital of South Africa - Bothaville.
i did a quick 1 hour presentation on scrapbooking to a bunch of ladies. we started off a bit slow with about 20 ladies and halfway through the hall was filled with curious ladies and onlookers. what touched me most is that these ladies are genuinely interested in preserving their memories and capturing their lives and i am pleased to say that i got them there...either convincing them to start or igniting an old spark! i love their enthusiasm and honesty....
i also learned a few things....
tractors and farming equipment are no longer just metal - they are hi-tech super cool and very expensive...we're talking R3.000.000.00 for farming equipment (= a lot of scrapbooking stuff)
Bothaville is far and very, very, very cold!!!
and for miles and miles and miles all you see is maize!
who knew there are thousands of different types...
anyway we had a ball but i am glad to be home!
BUT
i did manage to get a few stunning maize pics...that will soon follow in an
"a-maize-ing" layout i hope! i will be back tomorrow with another scrap and stamp Saturday challenge so watch this space!

Nampo 2010.

in the morning we are off to Bothaville,
in the Freestate to Nampo 2010.
Nampo is the biggest harvest festival in South Africa. there are literally hundreds of exhibitors from SA as well as from Argentina and Europe! Now this i never knew....
anyways...why would i be going there...
i am part of the woman's activities group and will be talking about
scrapbooking as well as doing a presentation!
it's always exciting to be part of promoting the industry and getting new followers and addicts!
they are expecting about 68 000 visitors during the week...WOW!
anyway will try and blog from the road otherwise will have some
interesting pics to share when we get back...

face off.

don't you just love this colour combination...well the paper helped a lot and the scrapping material wasn't half bad either LOL!
just a fun layout we did this week - simple but effective in its layout and space for loads of photos and just about any combination of photo sizes you can dream up.
the photos were taken on our scrap weekend away and just a glimpse o
f the wonderful friends in my life - down to earth and very rich in their friendships!!
the beautiful patterned paper is from
Jillybean soup and available from my friend Cariena's shop!
she has an amazing selection of patterned paper, stamps, tim holtz goodies as well as everything else a scrapper or stamper may need or desire! you might want to start your wish list sometime soon in time for Christmas....

the stamp above is from the Avignon 7Gypsies set...love them!

and an appropriate 7Gypsies sticker...

and a little Tim tag for good prosperity!

pamper yourself.

last week we did this layout...also another great sketch from scrapbook challenges that i followed.
i love that you could add so many photos, but also wasn't forced to. i substituted some of my photos with embossed card stock through the cuttlebug and some patterned paper blocks.

i used a light coloured card stock and after embossing it sanded the top edges off
to reveal some of the white core

another stunning and meaningful rub-on from 7gypsies

and matching stickers...

supplies: card stock American Crafts & Bazzill Basics. Patterned paper by Prima & Making Memories. Stickers & rub-ons by 7Gypsies. Chipboard swirl by Enmarc Crafts. Other Diamantes & thread.

sketch 200.

can you believe it's Monday again! this week at scrapbook challenges Pamela has yet another terrific sketch. i chose the double page version for my layout, but you can have a look at the single page sketch over on her site. head on over to the website
www.scrapbookchallenges.ning.com
and while you are there why not become a member of this fabulous site.
upload your layout to the site and you could just be a winner...

i got to use some really old photos of myself when i was still a tennis star! seems like ages ago...
although the photos are really discolored I chose not to scan and correct them but instead use the originals (i have my own issues). the patterned papers are from Karen Foster and adds some nice colour...incidentally the colours of the papers are the colours of our shirts we are wearing in the photos - so it worked out really well.
i added some bling to the tennis balls for some glamor and loved the outcomes.
go the website to see what else the design team came up with..there are some stunning layouts with loads of inspiration!

supplies: Card stock Fabscraps. Patterned paper Karen Foster & Prima. Stickles Ranger Industries.
Stickers 7Gypsies. Other Pearls, diamante & embroidery thread.

scrap and stamp.

i had the perfect week - all my layouts were done and ready for upload...and then i go and loose the files! you gotta love technology...
anyway...this week at scrap and stamp the challenge was to use ribbon...
i used ribbon tied into little knots to create some texture on my layout. they are really
quick and easy to do

make some holes in your card stock with an anywhere hole punch. tie your ribbon into a knot and then thread it through the hole from the front to the back. adhere the ribbon to the back with some double sided tape and cut off the remaining piece. repeat the process again and again to create your effect.

anyway hop on over to
scrap and stamp
to see what the other design team members have come up with....
in the meantime it is back to editing and loading photos on the wed for next week...

sketch 199.

this week over at scrapbook challenges Pamela has added another awesome sketch! if you are stuck for some inspiration then head on over to check out some more wonderful ideas of what the design team came up with.
i used the double page sketch for my layout this week. the photos are quite old and really random of a trip to New York City, but worked really well for this sketch.
on the left of the layout i used a heidi swapp mask with some silver smooch spritz for some interest on the background.

for my title i used a chipboard word and inked it in black. a layer of dimensional glaze finishes it off nicely.

i used some stamping as part of my title...

some sewing for texture and colour...

silver rub-ons to match my smooch spritz and to finally get rid of some old stash...

beautiful red pearls...

and a cuttlebug butterfly embossed and inked with shabby shutters distress ink. for the stamping around the butterflies i placed my mask back onto my background card stock and then stamped over it...

head on over to scrapbook challenges for some inspiration...

scrap and stamp saturday.

just got back from three fabulous days in the African bush scrapping. lots of laughter, food, friends and creativity...what more can a girl want - except maybe to flee reality. anyhow...this week at scrap and stamp Saturday the task was to use the fabulous sketch above from Lacey. below is my version of the sketch which i rotated 90 degrees to the right 'cause it suited my photos perfectly.

i replaced the third photo with a stamped image that was matted and raised with foam for some dimension. love my new Tim Holtz stamp set.

the field note card is from a bingo card set by tattered angels - love them! the edges are inked in creamy brown chalk ink and i finished it off with 2 small diamante.

love this ribbon combined with old dictionary paper pleats above it.

the stamped image...in black versafine on white

the stamped image was decorated with a rub-on by 7gypsies matted onto the same pink and adhered to the image in the middle.

a piece of a beautiful Prima bloom used as finishing touch.
so hop on over to scrap and stamp to see what the other talented design team members came up with this week. remember to use a stamp somewhere on your layout...
