This layout was so inspired by a single page done a while go by my friend Pamela Young. She is such an awesome scrapper and a generous friend. When i saw her layout i knew i had to scraplift it...and so here it is! i love how we can be inspired by different people and different things even if they have such a different style of doing things. so thanks Pamela!
of course it helped that i used the beautiful pink paislee paper to create this beauty. i also threw in some girl's paperie and mme for good measure and good old i can't live without book paper. i used the book paper to create a dimensional border at the top of each flaggy and then added some sewing along the edge in different colours.
the lettering is by a local south african company...and used to death! i added some glaze to make them look them better.
the butterfly is cut from a piece of paper and glitter glue added. the stamp and floral stickers used are from a Prima paper sheet and the rub-ons by kaisercraft.
the lace border stamp used right at the top of the layout is by prima and the butterfly by pink paislee - stamped in grey ink. i hope you feel inspired on this cold weekend afternoon. be blessed! and thanks for popping by xx

this week's challenge over at scrap and stamp Saturday is a colour challenge! the challenge is to use brown, cream and one additional colour - i chose red. i absolutely loved how this layout turned out - the photos, the use of scraps of paper, the stamping, sewing and even those old very old ki memories rub-ons by Love Elsie! (yes they still worked like a charm) For the patterned paper squares i dug around in my scraps and found patterned with creams and browns in and the red came with the beautiful old favourite by Jenni Bowlin. I hope this layout will inspire you to play along, but more importantly to use those old supplies you have - scraps are the best part about being creative. I love that i can make those beautiful papers stretch over a couple of layouts **'cause i really love patterned papers.

i finally got a round to scrap some of the pictures and event ephemera from April in Cape Town. The photos are totally random taken from the girls, Tim and the product we used in his class. The papers are all left-overs from Margie's class with some additional 7gypsies and artchix added. I used the cover for my hotel key card and our table ticket to create the flags at the top of the layout - i love how every little remidner can be added to your layouts to create an original work of art. I have been thinking a lot about how the industry has gone from 'original' layouts and works of 'art' to packing kits and just sticking stuff together for those who think they don't actually have the time to create something original. well i say nonsense - why don't they all try and watch less TV and doing meaningless stuff, and get down to doind some quality projects, spending time with those who are really important and be orignal! maybe they are just too afraid to be original - because if you don't fit in with the Jones's this world will surelt crucify you sooner or later. anyways my thought for the day...be you - be an original!

and finally here it is...a new sketch over at scrapbook challenges. this week has flown by so fast. things have been hectic around here. anyways....this is such an awesome sketch. at first i was stumped, but once i finally found my bracket template things kinda fell into place. the background inked paper is by pink paislee (house of three) and inked with weathered wood distress ink to reveal the 'embossed' design. i used the polkadot on the outside with a sewn border on the inside, and then filled the inside with a making memories ledger paper raised onto foam. the star was die-cut on my slice elite and then coloured using color wash in denim and perfect pearls mists in heirloom gold. the little birdie and lollipop flowers are chipboard coloured using chalk inks and then glazed. for some more inspiration head on over to scrapbook challenges and see what the design team came up with! hope you have a fabulous week heading into the weekend. thanks for popping in...
