i have been involved in a lot of projects in my artistic career over the past 15 years! but this one has to be one of my favourites to date. I created some recycled projects for a TV program here in South Africa. Gasp! this baby was quite a project to be invovlved in due to time frame, design and some other factors which i won't bore you with! the projects had to all be recycled, classy and be something for the home. my first project premieres on the 8th September 2010 at 22h00 - 22h30 local South African time. the channel is KykNet and the show name is "Droomhuis" (dreamhouse). also see the rest of the schedule for future projects on the website. for the full instructions and photos of all my projects visit their website

the next sketch challenge is up over at Scrapbook Challenges. i loved using this sketch - it must be due to its organized nature and structure :-). of course i adapted it slightly to make it my own and fit into my style for now. not that i really have a style at the moment. it's more like whatever i feel like as my mood does determine my scrapping at the moment - busy and chaotic or peaceful and clean...what's up with that? anyhow why not pop on over to Pamela's blog and see what the girls came up with and then to scrapbook challenges to become a member and join in the fun.

without further a due...here's my take on the sketch. i used a selection of random photos from way back then - nothing specific apart from my childhood memories - just getting things scrapped. i must say i really liked how this one turned out! let me know what you think too.

i used a star as mask and then lightly spritzed over it onto my Prima patterned paper. the sewing around the edges just adds some texture and highlights the shape.

my 7gypsies sticker acts as a title.

and another star created with distress inks, water and embossing.

the challenge this week over at scrap and stamp Saturday is...creating faux buttons. this can be quite a tricky one if you don't like the look of 'handmade' (sigh). i have issues of my own with that...but nonetheless i create the layout below and love it.

i cut my buttons out of chipboard and then added some gold leafing. i had been working on another project with gold leafing and since i had not got it out of my system i just kept on going. you see, if i am not held back i would gladly golf leaf every piece of furniture i won.

the stamped image is from tim holtz with some more leafing inside some of the lettering...

and a piece of leather cord stapled to the patterned paper with my tiny attacher and then snipped into various lengths.

sketch 214 is up over at scrapbook challenges. this is another great sketch and was a great challenge. i used an interesting combination of patterned papers this week ... i loved the look of the soft buttercup yellow, red and black together. there's also a bit of olive green and pink thrown in for good measure ...

i used my circle punch to create this fun bunting effect. after i completed the layout things seemed too 'empty' and this is how it came to be. the dictionary paper is by a local designer Tracy Schimper...love her new stuff!

and my journaling done on little flags - i printed my journaling first and then hand cut the little flags afterwards. the edges were inked in light brown for definition.
