colour challenge at scrap and stamp saturday.

this week's challenge over at scrap and stamp Saturday is a colour challenge! the challenge is to use brown, cream and one additional colour - i chose red. i absolutely loved how this layout turned out - the photos, the use of scraps of paper, the stamping, sewing and even those old very old ki memories rub-ons by Love Elsie! (yes they still worked like a charm) For the patterned paper squares i dug around in my scraps and found patterned with creams and browns in and the red came with the beautiful old favourite by Jenni Bowlin. I hope this layout will inspire you to play along, but more importantly to use those old supplies you have - scraps are the best part about being creative. I love that i can make those beautiful papers stretch over a couple of layouts **'cause i really love patterned papers.

I used one of the rub-ons directly onto a piece of the 7gypsies patterned paper and cut closely around it. The text is still visible through the rub-on and in small bits around the edge. Transforming a piece of patterned paper and making it new again! i simply love that.
Beautiful buttons in cream sit nicely alongside a rub-on by scrapbook king. and remember a button finished off with some thread always looks nicer than an empty button!
My title was cut using my Making memories Slice Elite out of making memories and 7gypsies paper. I then used a fine script stamp and stamped directly onto the die-cut words in grey for a subtle watermark effect. The heart is a rub-on trimmed around the edges.
the tag stamp is one of my favourites stamped in Versafine onto 7gypsies text paper, matted onto black card stock and finished off with some jute. The tag was raised onto the layout for some dimension.
Go ahead and play along with us this week. so head on over to Scrap and Stamp Saturday and see what the other girls did with this stunning challenge! I hope you have a wonderful week ahead!

Saturdays challenge over at scrap and stamp Saturday was using tags. well i had no problem, cause i simply love them and always have! i used a bunch of manilla tags and dressed them up in patterned paper, distress ink, perfect pearl mists and stamping with a couple of photos too. i love how this layout turned out! i also added some cut-out pieces on the left using Webster's pages e;elements and combine them with more tags from girl's paperie, ribbon and diamante.
for my stamping i used my favourite 7gypsies stamp set. i stamped directly onto my patterned paper in grey - my new favourite colour.
the distress ink colour on the tag is mustard seed combined with vintage photo and then misted with sunflower gold perfect pearls mists! absolutely love that stuff and have been playing with it to death even before we learned all about it from tim this past weekend!
some plain old masking tape dressed up with silver acrylic paint dabber and finished off with some sewing.
some stickles on my cut out pieces just for fun. can't live without bling and stickles!

it's Saturday and time for another challenge over at scrap and stamp Saturday! this week is an easy one...anything goes, as long as you use at least one stamped image on your design. the inspiration for this layout was a colour combo, but sparked by piece of painted turquoise blue paper created while making my she art canvas. so it all came about with stuff that was on my table or on the floor (space is cramped). head on over to scrap and stamp Saturday to see what the other design team members have come up with! remember that if you play along you can win a fabulous stamp set from Autumn Leaves in this challenge!
pink and turquoise embroidery thread tied into knots to form a border.
my stamped image is one by Darkroom Door, stamped repeatedly to create some dimension by popping the leaves using foam dots.
and some recycled postage stamps in gorgeous colours.
i hope you will play along this week and become a regular participant! stamping is great fun and the possibilities are endless! have a wonderful weekend...and if you pop in please say hi!

this week's challenge over at scrap and stamp Saturday is doing a layout about you - the here and now! i grabbed some new Prima goodies from my desk and just had a good old play date with myself. i am trying to escape real life lately so i just do what i love and love what i do...this is really what this page is about! about being creative and forgetting all the small insignificant things happening around me, but rather to focus on the more important things in life! this is also a philosophy people like to crucify me over - because i really don't care about the things they do, instead focus on what is important and valuable to me!

for my stamping i used some 7gypsies words and my American crafts dot stamp. i inked it using vintage sepia versafine and then wiped away some of the ink with a wet wipe to give the distressed look once stamped.

some 7gypsies stickers and rub-ons teamed with distress ink pad re-inker dripped directly onto my layout and then spritzed with water!
so head on over to scrap and stamp Saturday and play along with us. you can also view the stunning layouts by the other design team members. hope you have a rest what is left of the weekend...i am off to do some painting in the kitchen...and trying to finish a little Easter celebration postcard.

the challenge over at scrap and stamp Saturday this week is using black and white plus one colour. i added some gold/yellow to my b&w combo...by chance. the papers left on my table sort of picked themselves for this layout - but i love how it turned out. the black and white circles are stamped using a hampton set in black versafine. the patterned paper circles are 7gypsies and graphic45.
loving how versatile these circle stamps are!

some stunning 7gypsies rub-ons.

and some fun gold liquid pearls to create a dimensional border!

why not play along and share your black and white creations with us over at

a beautiful glitz design transparency with a gorgeous cake on it...

that i adhered with some sewing..

have an awesome day and a really creative week.
today is back to reality with some much needed commissions and class projects that need to be finished before tomorrow morning. this all needs to happen with a house filled with lots of dust and cement...a real big mess - but that's a story for another day when i will share some before and after pics with you. until then have a fabulous day!

scrap and stamp layout.

for the next two weeks over at scrap and stamp Saturday the challenge is anything goes! well that said...the possibilities are endless - especially when stamping is involved. in July last year i taught a layout in Jeffreys Bay at Scrapbook Studio that i simply loved. it is one of those layouts that just worked, plus it had loads of stamping on it. This is the second version about my nephew, the first about my niece. there is loads of stamping using bubble wrap as well as acrylic stamps and real red rubber. so this is my anything goes layout...

the circles are made using a self made stencil and distress inks. The brown spots are colour wash from Ranger Industries - love that stuff! scattered on the background is stamping using bubble wrap and diamante. the only patterned paper used were for the flags that i freehand cut and added some sewing. the number stamp in the top left corner is from the ooh soo talented Glitz Girls! the title stickers and rub-ons, as well as the other rub-ons used elsewhere are really old but also found a home. so there you have it!
remember that you have 2 weeks to enter your "layout" and win some stunning prizes. so head on over to scrap and stamp today!

this is the last challenge for 2010 over at scrap and stamp Saturday! how time as flown by! this week the challenge is Christmas! lucky for me we had our Christmas dinner last month and had some gorgeous photos to work with. the layout below was designed by my friend Barbs but i changes mine up a bit as i didn't have all the punches she used.
the images above the flags are a combination of rub-ons and stamps. I have an adorable set of miniature birthday stamps - you know the type you buy when you first start stamping because they are so versatile - oh yes you do! anyhow, they worked perfectly...

the trees and stars were die-cut and some of them even cut freehand like the little flags. i love how you can use odd rub-ons, like the ones between the little tag photos, to fill in some gaps. the silver strips across the top and bottom are double sided tape with glitter on them! still love that technique! hope you will play along with us this week and stand the chance to win some awesome goodies just in time for Christmas! we will be back the 1st January 2011 with a new challenge! happy Holidays everyone!

scrap and stamp saturday.

a new challenge is up over at scrap and stamp Saturday...and this time it is some kind of winter tradition. while we here in South Africa are dealing with heat waves in the midst of summer and praying for rain....i did some of my sledding photos from my trip to Germany. i absolutely love snow and could move to the coldest place on the planet in the blink of an eye - i just don't like Africa and its hot weather! anyhow...i combined some stamping onto my photo to fill the empty spot as well as some of my many snow flake stamps in shades of blue distress ink.
the sleigh is from Making Memories and was originally a gold shiny metal colour. i added some alcohol inks to get the brown shades and love the look.

so head on over to scrap and stamp Saturday and play along!

this week at scrap and stamp Saturday we have a wonderful sketch challenge for you. to see the sketch head on over to scrap and stamp where you can also see some of the other stunning layouts the design team has come up with. i can hardly believe the year as come to an end so quickly...but luckily you still have some time to play along today and for a few more Saturdays! remember to use at least one stamp on your layout and then submit it to stand a chance of winning some fun prizes.
and here's what i did with my sketch....
and a close-up of my stamped image. i cut a piece off to run off the page, inked it with distress inks and then added a bling border.

the stunning patterned papers are by House of Three with its beautiful resist print. I inked it using 2 different colours of distress ink. my title consists out of rub-ons and chipboard letters.

for the bottom edge of my layout i used a strip of tags coloured using a brown mist. i simply love tags and the colours worked perfectly with the red and yellow Teresa Collins' patterned paper. my journaling block, decorative tag and photo were slightly tilted to match the sketch. hope you like it. i hope you have a fabulous and creative saturday! i am off to clean my work table and then maybe do a couple of tim's christmas tags!

scrap and stamp saturday.

the challenge is up over at scrap and stamp Saturday and this week it is all about sewing - now that's right up my alley! i love my sewing. i used to sew a lot with my machine but then i started hand sewing on my work using embroidery thread and love the effect a lot more. here's my layout for this week. i used the new Prima Jack and Jill line because it is so adorable. i used sewing on the left side to hide some of the pink in the paper by sewing right over it using a light blue thread.
don't you just adore the little puppies on the paper...
i used a blanket stitch along the edge of the circle on the second page. the flowers were stamped with a set of clear stamp from Scrappy Cat. I added some stickles in star dust and finished them off with diamantes.
by following the lines on the paper with sewing you can create a really cool dimensional effect with texture and change the colour instantly.
head on over to scrap and stamp Saturday to see the other design team member's work and take part in the challenge. you now have 2 weeks to enter your creations and stand the chance of winning some awesome goodies. thanks for visiting and have a super weekend.

supplies: Patterned paper by Prima and October Afternoon. Stamps by Scrappy Cat. Ink by Tsukineko. Stickles by Ranger. Lettering by Cricut. Other Diamantes, thread, metal sheeting and embossing folder by Cuttlebug.

embossing...

yeah it's Saturday! and another challenge over at Scrap and Stamp Saturday. this week the challenge is embossing...heat embossing or blind embossing whatever you fancy - and with at least one stamped image used on your layout. remember that you can enter your layout featuring embossing and stand a chance to win some awesome prizes! for my layout i chose both - i used a tim holtz embossing folder, inked it using my Versamark ink pad and then embossed my card stock. once done i added silver embossing powder on top and heat set to add my thermal/heat embossing. i absolutely love this effect!!

and here's a close up shop of the embossing with the folder and then heat embossed with silver embossing powder onto green card stock...but there's more

i heat embossed this arrow stamp by stampers anonymous and then sprayed it with espresso colorwash and left it to dry naturally

and then embossed some metal sheeting with a cuttlebug folder and punched into a circle accent

embossing is such a versatile technique and the possibilities are endless. play along this week and share in the fun - we would love to see what you girls come up with.

i can hardly believe it's Saturday again! time just seems to fly by as we head into summer and the end of the year...i am currently working on Christmas cards...no way! it's hard to wrap my head around it, but took a break to work on the numbers challenge over at scrap and stamp Saturday when i remembered about this baby...i still love it and had to share. it's one of those crazy layouts where i used everything and anything that didn't have a home at the time - all those odd card board frames, one left rub-on, tags, brads, stamping and much more. the challenge was to use numbers...either on the page or even on your photo or as a title. head on over and play along to win!!

to emphasize the number 2 i used acrylic paint and a plastic cup to stamp around it.

these are old id tags from a switch board - i love using stuff like that - it has so much meaning and is applicable to my life, oh and then there is the part about recycling i am passionate about too. something from my late father's days and so fitting for a layout about his grandson whom he never knew.

and more stamping on a card board little car inside a frame. the stamp is a favorite from Hero Arts. i also stamped some numbers with another favorite Tim Holtz stamp. the car part was glazed to make it stand out even more.

PS. the Ferrari car cake was make by my brother himself!! he really is good when it comes to stuff like that! and needless to say Jonathan loved his cake.
hope you have a fabulous weekend!
