Mom’s The Word – Mother’s Day Card

Moms play such a huge part in our lives – and once a year we get to publicly acknowledge everything they do for us and how much meaning they bring to our lives. Whether it’s your birth Mom, spiritual Mom or adopted Mom, Moms everywhere need to hear how much we value and appreciate them – so make this day a really special one for your Mom.

This year I am treating my Mom to a special mug with some vinyl lettering on it. And since white on white is one of her favourite things and I just happen to have white vinyl it all worked out perfectly.
Step 1 - Create a file in the Silhouette design software. I used a pre-designed one I had and love.

Step 2 - Insert the file onto the page. I added one for my card and one for my mug – both using white vinyl. Select the vinyl setting in the cut settings and cut the images.

step 3 - Use transfer tape or masking tape to transfer the images onto the surface you want.

Mother’s day card

step 1 - Fold your white AC cardstock to form a card base. Use a large stamp and stamp the grass image at the bottom of the folded card at the front using VersaFine Smokey Gray ink.
step 2 - Clean the stamp and ink the same image this time using Memento Luxe Pistachio. Off-set the stamp slightly from the original stamped image and stamp it again.

step 3 - Clean the stamp and ink using Memento Luxe Angel Pink and stamp the image again slightly off-set from the other two stamped images.

step 4 - Die-cut star jasmine flowers from the Kaisercraft Cottage Rose papers.

step 5 - Use a burnishing tool to curl the flowers and ink the edges. Group the flowers together and fasten with a brad.

step 6 - Adhere the flowers to the card using Tombow adhesive. Transfer the vinyl word “Mother” to the front of your card. To highlight the white word on the white background, add a small amount of grey Memento ink using a paintbrush to the edges of your word to create a shadow effect. Finish off your card with diamanté and ink splats.

With all my crafting goodies, I am able to make this Mother’s day really special without breaking the bank. Try using what you have in your stash to make a special Mother’s day card or gifts for your Mom.

Assembling paper elements to a Father’s day layout using the Xyron.

The question I get asked a lot lately is how do I adhere my small paper and cardstock elements to my layouts? well, with my Xryon – yes it seems like I am really going
on and on about this little machine – but it truly is my go to problem solver these days. It is just such a quick and easy solution to any sticky-problem you may have.
For this layout I created a lot of elements that required adhering to my layout – some are pop out cardstock elements, others were cut on my Silhouette machine like
the photo corners, and others cut from patterned papers – but everything was adhered by adding permanent adhesive with my Xyron.

Even with thin papers and elements, the permanent adhesive cartridge adds a perfectly thin layer of adhesive that does not show through.
step 1 – Pop out some cardstock elements, cut your elements and cut different signs from patterned paper.
step 2 – Load the elements all together into the front of your machine and turn the handle to feed them through.
Remember to keep them face up
Keep feeding the elements by turning the handle until they all appear at the back. Cut off using the blade attached.
step 3 – make sure you burnish the plastic covering so that the adhesive that may peek out the sides adhere to the plastic covering and not your elements.
step 4 – Remove the plastic covering to reveal the elements with the adhesive at the back
step 5 – Remove the element you want to adhere from the backing sheet.
step 6 – Adhere and layer the elements in one quick easy step.
My cardstock elements used for this layout was layered on top of each other, and with the Xyron it is so easy.

It just goes to show you can create an entire layout with the Xyron Creative Station – no mess no fuss and no sticky residue!

Make sticky die-cuts with the Xyron Creative station.

In the build up to Father's day I created these quick and easy gift card envelope using my Xyron Creative Station. I used my Permanent Adhesive cartridge to add adhesive to my cardstock before die-cutting some delicate and detailed words. By adding the adhesive first and then cutting my words, I avoid a mess trying to get adhesive onto my words afterwards. So quick and easy!
It’s that time of the year that we are celebrating dad’s all around thew world – your earthly or heavenly Father – we all have one or know one that has blessed our lives with goodness, kindness and love. So create something to celebrate him, or just spoil him with something special.
Here’s how…
Step 1 – Take some white cardstock and add colouring using inks and mists.
Add the permanent adhesive cartridge to your Xyron Creative Station.
Step 2 - insert the coloured cardstock face up through your Xyron – remember the adhesive is added
to the bottom part so whatever you want to be visible needs to face upwards.
Step 3 - Remove the plastic piece from the front of your coloured cardstock piece.
Position the die you want to use to cut your words onto the coloured and now sticky backed cardstock piece.
Step 4 - Send the die and cardstock through your die-cutting machine to cut the words.
Step 5 - Carefully remove the cut word from the backing sheet.
TIP:
The die-cut word is now cut and has adhesive on it – you can simply adhere it to your project.
This is an amazing way to add adhesive to those delicate and detailed die-cuts without adding glue after cutting them – no mess and no fuss.
TIP: Do not worry if the word does not cut right through the plastic backing at the back. All you need is for the die to cut through the cardstock.
You want the adhesive on the back of the cardstock that makes adhering ithe words really easy.
I love how the Xyron makes my creative life so much easier – I don’t have to battle with delicate die-cuts and glue – the Xyron does it all for me!

My Valentine – make a decorative rosette with punches.

Are you planning something special for this Valentines Day and your loved ones? We try and celebrate love everyday so hardly ever do something special, but on the odd occasion i will do something that my better half really loves – like buy a slab of Lindt Chocolate and wrap it beautifully.
I started off by wrapping the chocolate slab in some pretty decorative paper, and then created a focal point topper using punches and dies.
A punched border runs down from top to bottom on the front, with a decorative rosette on top of the border.
step 1 – Punch a border strip from patterned paper using your selected Tonic punch
Step 2 – Keep the remainder of the paper left-over from the punched border, and trim that piece to measure 2.5cm wide.
step 3 – Place the strip in a trimmer or score board and score the strip at every 5mm all along the length
step 4 – Mountain and valley fold the entire strip on the score lines
step 5 – adhere the two ends together after folding the strip. Keep it tight. The decorative scallop border now sits at the bottom and will form the outside of your rosette.
step 6 – Adhere the rosette to a base circle using a hot glue gun from the Chiswick range.
step 7 – Die cut some decorative elements from Chiswick cardstock.
Assemble the rosette together with the die-cuts, punched border and sticker on the front of the decorated slab.
a Quick and easy way of adding a special touch to an ordinary slab of chocolate.

The Wholesaler - Gorjuss is back in town.

Gorjuss is back in town and as usual i am not disappointed! I am however in love with the pretty papers, soft colors, beautiful elegant ribbons, fun stitched tags and my personal favorite those beautiful detailed rubber stamps. My favorite of-course is the Runaway Gorjuss on her horse - ready for adventures or simply disappearing into a magical world of her own. I used the Runaway stamp to create a card combined with my favorite American Crafts smooth cardstock. I can't imagine life without cardstock that is smooth - it enables me to stamp perfect images, but also to color them in using my favorite Artiste markers. The smooth cardstock will give me a crisp image when stamped, but also allows me to add a flawless layer of color using plenty of water.
I had so much fun creating with the new Gorjuss range of papers, i made this quick recycled paintbrush holder just for fun!
The smooth cardstock takes water well and without the texture is perfect for stamping, inking, techniques, texture paste and stenciling to mention a few. This is my go-to cardstock these days because i can create the look i want without worrying about the texture getting in the way of my creativity.
The other advantage of the smooth cardstock is that you can punch images from it using even the most delicate of punches. The paper is firm yet soft and leaves a crisp image - the perfect companion to your favorite punches giving your creativity even more possibilities.
Here's how i stamped and colored my images using the new Artiste marker set.
I add a lot of water to my color on a palette and use a small paintbrush to add the color to my image.
And here's how you can stamp with your markers in a few easy steps
step 1 - Colour the stamp with the long tip of your marker turned on the flat side.
step 2 - lightly mist the inked image with a water mister to moisten the ink.
step 3 - place the stamp nto your smooth cardstock and lightly apply pressure to stamp the image. Carefully remove the stamp and color your images.
  • Never use the tip to colour in your stamps but rather the flat edge of the marker to avoid damaging the tips when you apply pressure
  • By misting the ink with water you moisten it up making the ink wetter for stamping and gives you a watercolour effect while stamping
  • The dual tip markers are perfect for colouring in with the round tip, using them with water to paint and to stamp – a 3 in one go-to marker for adding colour to your life

Madame Payraud layout - Docrafts is amazing.

There’s a new lady in town - Madame Payraud and she is simply stunning! This new range of papers by DoCrafts is everything you could need for a beautiful vintage layout or project. The range of papers covers everything from butterflies and travel to delicate script handwriting and old postcards, not to mention the beautiful old roses. Now that you know her a bit more personally, let me show you how to capture her beautiful spirit on a layout I made I created a single page layout using this beautiful range of papers, stamps and dimensional elements. I started off creating a background by stamping the mini-typewriter alphabet directly onto my white background. This broke the whiteness of my background and also gave me a starting point. I then added bits of patterned papers for colour before adding embellishments and finishing touches.
To create a bit of a modern feel but not distract from the beautiful papers and elements I changed my photo to black and white. This by no means takes away the attention from my photo, but rather it makes the colours pop against the neutral background. The pink roses, blue butterfly, lovely burgundy and browns complement each other perfectly. This range of papers and embellishments would make for a perfect “Heritage” layout or vintage themed greeting cards. Together with the paper, the stamps and various embellishments in the range make for a good combination across the board.
the 3D butterflies all dressed up with glitter glue for extra shimmer
there are loads of elements on the patterned papers that can be fussy cut to add a beautiful look to any project
i stamped the letters a second time and raised them on top of each other using foam dots for added dimension and interest
step 1
Use the Versafine ink pad and ink the mini-alphabet stamp – I left the stamps on the plastic packaging sheet and inked them directly
step 2
Carefully turn over the stamp sheet and place it down onto your background cardstock
step 3
Apply pressure onto the stamps and carefully remove the sheet again. Clean the stamps using stamp cleaner and a soft cloth. Now you are ready to create your project.
