this is the second last project of mine featured on 'droomhuis' / dreamhouse the TV program. a recycled lamp made with old books, an antique silver sugar bowl, an old frame and lamp. I love how this project turned out, and this beauty is currently next to my bed - waiting for the second one to be made with an old vintage milk jug to go on the other side. The lampshade is made up of thin white string on a square base and then decorated with old postcards, broaches, ribbon, letters and tags. The sugar bowl was decorated using old keys...

1 more week to finish off preparations for a big event and function i am doing at Gold Reef City for Caxton Magazines and then things will be back to normal...hence the not blogging thing. In the past two months i have really been blessed - huge doors have been opened - all because some things were removed from my life! and i was too blind to even see or notice it! anyway life has been good with looootttsss of scrapping done as well and so much to share.
so for today i leave you with this layout done a while ago using Prima and Webster's pages (sigh) i love them so much!

the flowers were stamped on white card stock and on parts of the Prima patterned paper in Lightning Black Brilliance and then some Star Dust stickles added for interest. I used them down the side of my layout and overlapped them. A single yellow diamante finishes them off. The patterned paper and photos form a block in the center of my layout with rub-ons and sewing along the bottom edge. The blocks at the bottom ad top are from KI Memories and probably a million years old! I love the simplicity of the layout with only bits and pieces used...by the way, the rest of the patterned paper was used to complete a second layout! Bonus!

Yip being on the ning network for an entire year it is a site filled with inspiration, sketches and loads of prizes to be won each month. as part of the celebrations this weekend i have a challenge over on the site - so go and check it out and you could win a little something! the challenge is to use bleach on your layouts. i simply love this easy to do and really inexpensive technique - it has so much to offer! so here is the layout i did. the pink strip on the right was done using a mixture of bleach, dish washing liquid and water. place water in a shallow tray big enough for your card stock to fit in, then add a drop of dish washing liquid and a cap of bleach. use a straw to blow bubbles. once you have created enough bubbles that sit on top of your tray of water, simply place your card stock on top and let it soak in the bubbles - and tada there you have a wonderful bubble background! head on over to scrapbook challenges and share your bleach layout with us to stand a chance to win.

the challenge is up over at scrap and stamp Saturday and this week it is all about sewing - now that's right up my alley! i love my sewing. i used to sew a lot with my machine but then i started hand sewing on my work using embroidery thread and love the effect a lot more. here's my layout for this week. i used the new Prima Jack and Jill line because it is so adorable. i used sewing on the left side to hide some of the pink in the paper by sewing right over it using a light blue thread.

don't you just adore the little puppies on the paper...

i used a blanket stitch along the edge of the circle on the second page. the flowers were stamped with a set of clear stamp from Scrappy Cat. I added some stickles in star dust and finished them off with diamantes.

by following the lines on the paper with sewing you can create a really cool dimensional effect with texture and change the colour instantly.
