last week we did this layout...also another great sketch from scrapbook challenges that i followed.
i love that you could add so many photos, but also wasn't forced to. i substituted some of my photos with embossed card stock through the cuttlebug and some patterned paper blocks.

i used a light coloured card stock and after embossing it sanded the top edges off
to reveal some of the white core

i got to use some really old photos of myself when i was still a tennis star! seems like ages ago...
although the photos are really discolored I chose not to scan and correct them but instead use the originals (i have my own issues). the patterned papers are from Karen Foster and adds some nice colour...incidentally the colours of the papers are the colours of our shirts we are wearing in the photos - so it worked out really well.
i added some bling to the tennis balls for some glamor and loved the outcomes.

i had the perfect week - all my layouts were done and ready for upload...and then i go and loose the files! you gotta love technology...
anyway...this week at scrap and stamp the challenge was to use ribbon...
i used ribbon tied into little knots to create some texture on my layout. they are really
quick and easy to do

make some holes in your card stock with an anywhere hole punch. tie your ribbon into a knot and then thread it through the hole from the front to the back. adhere the ribbon to the back with some double sided tape and cut off the remaining piece. repeat the process again and again to create your effect.

i used the double page sketch for my layout this week. the photos are quite old and really random of a trip to New York City, but worked really well for this sketch.
on the left of the layout i used a heidi swapp mask with some silver smooch spritz for some interest on the background.

for my title i used a chipboard word and inked it in black. a layer of dimensional glaze finishes it off nicely.

i used some stamping as part of my title...

some sewing for texture and colour...

silver rub-ons to match my smooch spritz and to finally get rid of some old stash...

beautiful red pearls...

and a cuttlebug butterfly embossed and inked with shabby shutters distress ink. for the stamping around the butterflies i placed my mask back onto my background card stock and then stamped over it...

just got back from three fabulous days in the African bush scrapping. lots of laughter, food, friends and creativity...what more can a girl want - except maybe to flee reality. anyhow...this week at scrap and stamp Saturday the task was to use the fabulous sketch above from Lacey. below is my version of the sketch which i rotated 90 degrees to the right 'cause it suited my photos perfectly.

i replaced the third photo with a stamped image that was matted and raised with foam for some dimension. love my new Tim Holtz stamp set.

the field note card is from a bingo card set by tattered angels - love them! the edges are inked in creamy brown chalk ink and i finished it off with 2 small diamante.

love this ribbon combined with old dictionary paper pleats above it.

the stamped image was decorated with a rub-on by 7gypsies matted onto the same pink and adhered to the image in the middle.

a piece of a beautiful Prima bloom used as finishing touch.
